Liz Taylor's Bel Air Mansion Sold to Razor Blade Tycoon

type='html'>NOTE FROM YOUR MAMA: This is an amended re-posting of an earlier and incorrectly reported discussion on the recent sale of Elizabeth Taylor's long-time mansion in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles.

SELLER: Elizabeth Taylor
BUYER: Rocky Malhotra
LOCATION: Los Angeles (Bel Air), CA
PRICE: $8,600,000 (list)
SIZE: 7,000(ish) square feet, 6 bedrooms (plus staff suite)

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Property records (and previous reports) reveal that after just 33 days on the open market, the long-time Los Angeles, CA residence of beloved and recently deceased Tinseltown legend Elizabeth Taylor has been sold. The question is–natch–who bought it?

The extraordinarily wealthy, lauded and applauded Elizabeth Taylor went to meet The Great Director in the Sky in late March 2011 and by mid-May her 1.27 acre Bel Air estate, recently refreshed by nice, gay decorator Waldo Fernandez, was on the open market with a price tag of $8,600,000. Just after the fortified estate appeared on the market photos of the home and garden, which includes a guard house Miz Taylor had manned by armed Israeli-trained security personnel, appeared in the glossy pages of Architectural Digest.

Property records Your Mama peeped show Miz Taylor's 7,000(ish) square foot manse was purchased in mid- to late-June (2011) by an entity called Copa de Oro Realty, LLC for an (as yet) undisclosed amount of money.

With an assist from Our Fairy Godmother in Bel Air we did some snooping around on the interweb and quickly determined that Copa de Oro Realty, LLC links directly back to a Bel Air residence owned by the somewhat eccentric inventor/entrepreneur/real estate investor named Mark B. Barron (née Mark Bowen).

At first we thought–and reported–that Mister Barron was the new owner of Miz Taylor's house. However and alas, we were wrong, dead wrong, puppies. Thanks to a covert communique from an unimpeachable inside source, let's call her Cleo Clearsupthematter, the new owner is not Mister Bowen but rather businessman Rocky Malhotra. As per Miss Cleo Mister Malhotra leases Mister Bowen's house in Bel Air, which explains why the Copa de Oro Realty, LLC points directly to that particular (residential) address.

Mister Malhotra came by his fortune the old-fashioned way: He inherited it. The Malhotra family, certainly not a household name in the United States, have long-owned the India-based SuperMax World. Mister Malhotra is the chairman of SuperMax World, a successful global concern that manufactures and sells household items, specifically razor blades, shaving products and home manicure sets. There really is, children, so much money to be made in inexpensive but necessary items.
Anyhoo, Your Mama first thought–and reported–that Mister Barron had recently and inexplicably snatched up several high-priced properties in Bel Air. However, according to Miss Cleo, it's Mister Malhotra who quickly stuffed his property portfolio with a trio of pricey pads in Bel Air. In addition to Miz Taylor's storied mansion on Nimes Road, Mister Malhotra coughed up $8,000,000 in May 2011 for an 8,248 square foot pseudo-Gothic kinda-Tudor style pile (pictured above) on a gated 1.1 acre parcel on Bel Air's busy North Beverly Glen Boulevard.
The very month prior, property mad Mister Malhotra snatched up another Bel Air mansion, this time a stately but wildly outdated 6,209 square foot Paul Williams-designed hill top residence on ritzy Bellagio Road (pictured above) immediately next door to the Copa de Oro Road estate financially embattled actor Nic Cage lost to foreclosure last year. The neo-Palladian property, sold by showbiz attorney Larkin Arnold, was purchased in April 2011 for $8,675,000.

Property records indicate that the mansion owned by Mark Barron and leased by Mister Malhotra sits on the same tiny cul-de-sac where music mogul Quincy Jones, PayPal co-founder Elon Musk and soft-porn purveyor Joe Francis all own luxe homes. Mister Barron's pad is just around the corner from the down-on-its-heels Hollywood Regency-style mansion of Zsa Zsa Gabor, currently and still listed with an asking price of $15,000,000.

We queried Miss Cleo as to Mister Malhotra's plans for Miz Taylor's crib and she tattled to Your Mama that Mister Malhotra plans to maintain the house much as Miz Taylor left it and to eventually lease it out. Who else besides Your Mama thinks the first tenant will likely be some rich old queen with a thing for Liz Taylor?

Tennis hottie Anna Kournikova Lists Miami Mansion

type='html'>
SELLER: Anna Kournikova
LOCATION: Miami Beach, CA
PRICE: $9,400,000
SIZE: 6,630 square feet, 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Anna Kournikova, a robust Russian beauty with a thick and silky mane of flaxen hair, was once a top tennis player on the world circuit. She had better luck on the doubles court–she took two grand slam titles with mouthy Martina Hingis–than she did on the singles court where for a brief moment in 2000 she reached the number 8 slot on rankings board. Ultimately it was not tennis but her healthy good looks and athletically curvy chassis that catapulted comely Miss Kournikova to swimsuit model fame and fortune. She became and remains of the most searched athletes on the interweb and has many times been named to various (men's) magazine's hottest and sexiest lists. Most recently she replaced Jillian Michaels as the trainer on The Biggest Loser, a professional move we never would have predicted.

Miss Kournikova, a wily minx if there ever was one, is perhaps best known in Gossipland as a master of obfuscation as regards to her romantic life. In the late 1990s it was reported the 18-year old tennis beauty was engaged to 28-year old Russian ice hockey pro Pavel Bure. Both Bure and Kournikova deny they were ever engaged.

Shortly after busting up with Bure, Kournikova hooked up with Sergei Fedorov, another Russian professional ice hockey hunk. He says they were married in 2001 and divorced in 2003. She says they never officially hitched their wagons. Your Mama hasn't any idea whatsoever if Miss Kournikova and Mister Fedorov were ever married in the eyes of God and government but we do know that together they held title to at least one Miami, FL area property. More on that later.

In late 2001, at the height of her white hot success Miss Kournikova got with suave and sexy pop star Enrique Iglesias. Anyone familiar with a calendar can see this would have been when–according to Sergei Federov–she was married to Sergei Federov. Make of those dates what you will. Several times over the years multiple rumors and reports surfaced that the couple were engaged. In 2007 Mister Iglesias told the press he and Lady K had broken up. She–no surprisingly–denied they split up. The following year the crooner claimed he'd married the tennis pro turned hottie model in 2007 but that they were (then) separated. In 2010 Miss Kournikova told British talks show hostess Graham Norton that she and Mister Iglesias had been coupled more than 10 years but had no plans to marry and as recently as late May 2011, the pair were photographed scooting around on a boat in Miami.

Are they married? Not married? Gawd, who cares? It's just exhausting. Personally, we think all the efforts of celebrities and other public figures to perplex the press and public only intensifies fans' interest in the intimate details of their personal lives. But then again, what do we know?

Anyhoo, property records show that Miss Kournikova acquired her water front residence in Miami Beach, FL in July 2000 for $5,000,000. She would have just turned 20 years old at the time. The purchase of her mansion in Miami Beach, now on the market with an asking price of $9,400,000, was not, it seems, her first time getting on the bronco at the real estate rodeo.

As might be expected given Miss Kournikova's penchant for surrounding her public image with confusion, property records for a certain Miami Beach penthouse are tangled. The Miami-Dade Tax Man shows that in October of 1997 Sergei Fedorov paid $2,275,000 for a penthouse pad at the luxe and amenity-laden Portofino Tower condo complex at the southern tip of South Beach. Title records we looked at show that in May 1999–long before Miss Kournikova was reported to be hooking up with (or perhaps married to) Mister Fedorov–he transferred the 5,680 square foot penthouse into her name for just $100. Something about that seems erroneous and/or fishy but that's what the docs show. In August of 2003 Mister Fedorov, according to the documents we peeped, paid Miss Kournikova $1,625,000 to assume sole ownership of the 4 bedroom and 6 bathroom penthouse. Records indicate the penthouse remains in Mister Fedorov's property portfolio. Confused? We are too.

Whatever what the deed and title situation with the penthouse at the Portofino Tower and whatever the current living situation of Mister Iglesias and Misss Kournikova, it's clear that the racket swinger has after nearly six years of ownership decided to dump her Miami Beach mansion in a gated island enclave in the Biscayne Bay and recently heaved it on the market with a $9,400,000 asking price.

Listing information shows Miss Kournikova's ivy-covered Mediterranean style mini-compound includes a 6,630 square foot two story main house that wraps around a central courtyard, a two-story guest house atop a poolside cabana and additional living quarters–perfect for staff or office–above the two car garage with kitchenette and private pooper. The property, walled and gated for security and privacy, includes a total of 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms according to listing information.

An arched wood, glass and wrought iron door opens from the motor court into an interior courtyard ringed by a loggia with a gurgling fountain. A proper grand entry with sweeping staircase leads into the mansion's main rooms that feature soaring ceilings with exposed beams and trusses, marble floors, fireplaces, wood-framed French doors and carved wood architectural details.

The well-equipped but not particularly special eat-in kitchen has white, antiqued raised panel cabinetry with glass-fronted uppers, an L-shaped island, light-colored granite counter tops and breakfast bar, and commercial grade stainless steel appliances including two side-by-side fridge/freezers. Wood-framed French doors connect the adjacent dining area to the backyard and outdoor entertaining areas.

Upstairs the waterside master suite has wood floors, a wood ceiling, and a trio of wood-framed French doors that give way to a narrow planted terrace that hangs over the backyard and looks out beyond to the shimmery bay. The attached bathroom has double sinks set into a carved wood wood commode (which we hope is antique is probably not), a barrel-vaulted ceiling, stone-tiled walls, separate shower with rain head and a jetted tub with bay view.

Although packed tightly onto the wedge-shaped lot the property boasts considerable outdoor and entertainment areas including a generous motor court, center courtyard entrance, a swimming pool and spa surrounded by coral rock terrace which in turn is surrounded on two side by flat lawns and towering palm trees, an outdoor living/dining area with built-in barbecue and a private dock for parking the water craft. A tall row of high-hedges along the water font keep any potential looky-loos from peeping in on Miss Kournikova (and Mister Iglesias) as they lounge poolside, grill up hot dogs or tinker in the garden.

One wonders if Miss Kournikova's new gig on The Biggest Loser will draw her to the left coast even though Miami is and has always been the home base of her long-time man-friend (and possible husband) Mister Iglesias. We haven't heard a word about Miss Kournikova hunting for a house in Tinseltown–we really hear so little about these things–that for all we know she's already settled into gated mansion in Pacific Palisades or one of the other uppity zip codes on the West Side. Stranger things have happened, candy bars.

Friday Mish-Mash: Sean Combs Lists Jersey Mansion

type='html'>Music and entertainment mogul Sean Combs–or P. Fiddle or Daddy Diddle or Puffy Poppa or whatever damn name he calls himself nowdays–heaved his big ol' mansion in supah-swank Alpine, NJ on the market with an asking price of $13,500,000.

Mister Daddy Puff purchased the 3.25 acre estate in the celebrity friendly 'hood in July 2004 for, according to prop records, $6,000,000. Listing information for the approximately 17,000 square foot red brick center hall Colonial shows it contains 26 rooms total with 7 bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms.

Celebrity-style amenities include a swimming pool with waterfall, spa, tennis court, fitness room, movie theater, garaging for at least 6 cars, and an indoor squash court.

New Jersey gets a bad rap–can you say Real Housewives of New Jersey and Jersey Shore?–but the tiny enclave of Alpine consistently ranks among the top most expensive zip codes in the country. Some of the other past and present residents of Alpine include The Jonas Brothers, comedians Eddie Murphy and Chris Rock, and lady rapper/plastic surgery aficionado 'Lil Kim.

Martin Lawrence To Let Bev Hills Mansion

OWNER: Martin Lawrence
LOCATION: Beverly Hills, CA
PRICE: $200,000 per month
SIZE: 16,178 square feet, 7 bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Your Mama was in the throes of getting this big of celebrity real estate bizness together when it was revealed to us that the sassy, long-legged blond at Trulia already did a little ditty about it. We press forward even still...

There seems to be a celebrity property trend afoot. First former 007 star Pierce Brosnan put his Bali-Thai-inspired ocean front mansion in Malibu up for lease at $250,000 per month (July and August only) and today comedian Martin Lawrence put his beast of a mansion in the guard-gated and architecturally steroidal Beverly Park community in Beverly Hills, CA out for lease at a substantially lower but still sky high $200,000 per month.

Listing information shows Mister Martin's X-shaped mansion sits on 2.2 gated and manicured acres, measures 16,178—on the wee side compared to many of the other monstrous manses in Beverly Park— and includes a total of 7 bedrooms and 9.5 bathrooms. Listing information goes on to parse the bedroom count into 4 family/guest suites; a master suite with private office and his and her bathrooms; and two additional downstairs bedrooms suitable for live in domestic staff (or less favored family members).

In addition to all the usual rooms a (mc)mansion usually has—including a marble-floored foyer with floating curved staircase, double height ceiling fitted a series of Salvatore Polizzi-designed stained glass sky lights—some of the extra special amenities at Mister Lawrence's contemporized faux-French pile include, according to current listing information, a game room, wine room, state-of-the-art movie theater with concession stand, and  "1,000 sq ft gym or guest suite."

A few of the exterior features $200,000 a month buys include (but are not limited to) a cobblestone motor court in front of the house plus second and also huge side motor court with garage access; sunken and lighted tennis court; swimming pool and elevated spa; octagonal pool house; outdoor kitchen; and meandering lawns lined with thickets of mature landscaping.

We'll prolly take a few swipes for saying this, but it's all so positively Floridian and self-consciously desperate to be elegant that we can't bear to stare at it for more than a minute or two at a time. And that pink and gold lady's bathroom in the master bedroom? Jeezis, Mary and Jehosephat, that is a posh pooper few besides Jayne Mansfield, Paris Hilton, Alex Madonna or a sun-damaged, senior citizen version of Barbie could love. Seriously.

Then again, what do we know? Mister Lawrence will most assuredly laugh his way all the to the bank when the pink-adoring and gilt-loving wife (or mistress) of some filty rich potentate, pasha or super-tycoon with a customized 747 goes ape-shit crazy for that bathroom and agrees to cough up a couple hundred grand a month for the privilege of stepping out of an over-sized soaking tub set in a pink marble platform on to plush expanse of toe-wiggling, wall-to-wall rose-colored carpeting. Believe it or not, puppies, that is the very picture of über-luxury for some people. Not Your Mama but, of course, we're not shopping for a $200,000 a month rental mansion either.

Goalie Hope Solo Scores Gold Medal and New Mansion

BUYER: Hope Solo
LOCATION: Kirkland, WA
PRICE: $1,200,000
SIZE: 5,330 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMAS NOTES: Huzzah! Looks like Wheatie's box ready American soccer goalie Hope Solo has won a (second) Olympic gold medal and bought a new, lake-view mansion in the affluent Seattle suburb of Kirkland, WA.

The Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Property Aerial and property records both reveal 31-year old Miss Solo—who made several downright spectacular saves in yesterday's electrifying gold medal match against Japan—ponied up $1,200,000 for her new Kirkland crib in late April, 2012.

Listing information Your Mama found on the interweb shows the Dancing With the Stars semi-finalist's spacious new spread, privately situated on a wooded hillside above Lake Washington, spans a family-friendly 5,330 square feet on two floors with three to four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and two fireplaces.

The contemporary Prairie-style inspired exterior, defined by deep eaves and ochre-toned horizontal wood siding broken by ribbons of windows and walls of glass doors gives way to spacious and luxurious if architecturally pared down and ho-hum open-plan interior spaces. Gleaming, honey-colored hardwood floors in the roomy entrance hall switches to (stain-attracting) bone-colored wall-to-wall carpeting in the formal living and dining rooms as well as in the compact, corporate-flavored office/library outfitted with built-in desk and floor-to-ceiling bookcases.

Less-formal, family quarters include a large, wood-floored, U-shaped eat-in kitchen with slab granite counter tops, dark raised-panel cabinetry, high-quality built-in stainless steel appliances, lots of windows and dark wood beams across the ceiling. The adjoining breakfast area opens through wood-framed glass doors to the backyard and swimming pool and steps down to a carpeted family room finished with inset wood ceiling and two full walls of nearly floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that provide direct backyard access and sparkling, over-the-tree-top city and lake views.

Listing information indicates there are at least two more "bonus rooms" for lounging and recreation as well as a wine cellar and squeezy media room where Staging Lady in a Pink Toyota inexplicably thought it would be cute to stick some films reels up on the wall and call it day-core. Uh, no. Anyhoo, there's also a two-car attached garage with direct access to the residence, according to listing information, plus a sizable detached structure located across a side motor court with workshop and four more pristinely-finished, art-gallery-like garage spaces.

The back of the lower level spills out to a huge terrace with sunken, lap-length swimming pool and spa, cabana-lounge with sunset views over Lake Washington. Set below the house and swimming pool terrace there's a full-sized sport court. Of course, a sport court is a total waste of space in Your Mama's lexicon of desirable property characteristics but we can certainly understand why a celebrated and decorated jockette like Miss Hope might find one appealing and maybe even useful.

Property records reveal this isn't currently single but (maybe) mingling Miss Solo's first time at the real estate rodeo. In August 2005 the soccer ball blocker paid $259,000 for a modest (and pretty minuscule) 1,090 square foot Kirkland (WA) residence with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Our entirely unscientific research indicates she continues to own her bantam bachelorette pad and it does not currently appear to be on the market.
